The Advisory Council for Research on Nature and Environment (RMNO) advises the government on the content and organisation of research and development on environmental issues on the mid-long term; spatial planning, nature protection and landscape conservation issues are included.

The Council for the Rural Area (RLG) advises the government and the parliament on strategic policy issues concerning agriculture, nature, forest and landscape, outdoor recreation and fisheries in rural areas. It also addresses other strategic issues either relating to, or influencing, the above-mentioned function.
